Implant dentistry
All-on-4 / All-on-6
When all the teeth in a jaw are missing – or need to be replaced – a new fixed arch of teeth can be supported by just 4 or 6 implants. No more dentures that come out.

What is the All-on-4 / All-on-6 method?
All-on-4 and All-on-6 are concepts in which 4 or 6 implants are placed in one jaw and a complete arch of teeth is fixed onto them – first a temporary one and, once the implants have healed, the final one. The restoration is fixed: it does not come out like a conventional denture and does not cover the palate.
The number of implants depends on the quantity and quality of the bone, your bite and the type of restoration. The decision is made on the basis of a 3D CBCT scan.
Who it is for
- Patients with no teeth in the upper jaw, the lower jaw or both
- Patients whose remaining teeth are mostly in poor condition and due to be replaced
- Patients who cannot get on with a removable denture – because it is unstable, covers the palate or makes speaking and chewing difficult
Course of treatment
- 01
Specialist consultation
An examination of your mouth, a conversation about what you would like to achieve and, if needed, an X-ray or 3D CBCT scan – all in the clinic, in one place. Based on this, you receive a treatment plan and a quote.
- 02
3D planning
The position of each implant is planned on the CBCT scan, and our laboratory produces a surgical guide for guided placement.
- 03
Implant placement
Under local anaesthetic, through the surgical guide from our laboratory. Remaining teeth are extracted at the same time if needed.
- 04
Temporary fixed teeth
A temporary arch of teeth is fitted onto the implants so that you are never without teeth while they heal.
- 05
Healing and check-ups
The implants fuse with the bone, and we monitor healing at follow-up appointments.
- 06
Final restoration
The final arch of teeth is made in our laboratory, tried in and fixed in place.
Advantages over a removable denture
- A stable restoration that never comes out – no worrying about it moving
- The palate stays uncovered – a more natural sense of taste and clearer speech
- More confident chewing and an easier adjustment period
- Implants transfer chewing forces to the bone, which helps preserve it
Maintenance
A fixed restoration on implants is cleaned every day with a toothbrush and special aids for the space beneath the bridge, which we show you when the restoration is fitted. Regular check-ups and professional cleaning are important for the longevity of the restoration and the health of the tissue around the implants.
Questions & answers
Frequently asked questions
All-on-4 or All-on-6 – which is better?
Neither method is better for everyone. Six implants provide more support and are used more often in the upper jaw or where chewing forces are higher, while four are often enough when the bone is of good quality. You receive a recommendation after the 3D analysis.
Will I be without teeth during treatment?
No. When the condition of the bone allows, temporary fixed teeth are fitted on the day the implants are placed, and you wear a temporary restoration while they heal.
How long does the whole process take?
It usually takes a few months from implant placement to the final restoration, depending on how the implants heal and whether bone grafting is needed. You receive an exact plan at your consultation.
Can the restoration be removed?
You do not remove it yourself. With some types of restoration, the dentist can take it off for check-ups and professional cleaning.
