Dental bridge

A bridge fills the gap between teeth and restores full chewing function – supported by natural teeth or by implants. We make it in our own laboratory – with no shipping, so turnaround times are short.

What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge is a fixed restoration made up of at least three connected units. The crowns at each end rest on natural teeth or implants (abutments), while the middle section replaces the missing tooth.

Beyond aesthetics, a bridge prevents the neighbouring teeth from drifting or tilting into the gap and protects the remaining teeth and the jaw joints from overload.

Types of bridges

  • Bridge on natural teeth – the neighbouring teeth are prepared and act as abutments; at least three connected crowns.
  • Bridge on implants – the neighbouring healthy teeth are not filed down; often replaces a removable partial denture at the back of the jaw.
  • Materials – zirconia-ceramic, all-ceramic or metal-ceramic, depending on the length of the bridge, your bite and your aesthetic expectations.

The procedure

  1. 01

    Specialist consultation

An examination of your mouth, a conversation about what you would like to achieve and, if needed, an X-ray or 3D CBCT scan – all in the clinic, in one place. Based on this, you receive a treatment plan and a quote.

  2. 02

    Preparation and digital impression

The abutment teeth are prepared under local anaesthetic and scanned.

  3. 03

    Design and fabrication

The bridge is designed and made using CAD/CAM technology in our laboratory.

  4. 04

    Try-in and fitting

The shape, colour and bite are checked, followed by permanent cementation.

Caring for your bridge

The space beneath the middle section of the bridge needs to be cleaned every day – with special floss, interdental brushes or a water flosser. Regular check-ups protect the abutment teeth from decay and gum inflammation.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to make a bridge?

It depends on the number of units in the bridge and the condition of the abutment teeth. Because we make bridges in our own laboratory, turnaround times are short – you receive an exact plan at your consultation.

Is preparing the teeth for a bridge painful?

The teeth are prepared under local anaesthetic. Afterwards they may be more sensitive to hot and cold for a short time.

Can a bridge be placed on implants?

Yes – a bridge on implants is a common choice when several teeth in a row are missing, as the neighbouring healthy teeth do not need to be filed down.

How long does a dental bridge last?

It depends on the condition of the abutment teeth, the material, your bite and your hygiene. With regular cleaning and check-ups, a bridge is a long-lasting solution.
