3D CBCT scan

A precise image of your teeth and bone is the first step towards a good treatment plan. You have your CBCT and panoramic X-ray at our clinic in Sarajevo – in the same place where your treatment is planned and carried out.

Panoramic X-ray (2D)

A panoramic X-ray (OPG) is an X-ray of the whole mouth: the teeth, both jaws, the sinuses and the jaw joints in a single image. It is used for a general overview and to detect decay, inflammation, cysts, impacted wisdom teeth and the condition of the bone.

CBCT (3D dental scan)

CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) provides a three-dimensional view of the teeth, bone and surrounding structures. Unlike a 2D X-ray, it also shows the width and shape of the bone and the exact position of the roots, nerves and sinuses.

That is why CBCT is the basis for planning implants, guided placement, surgical wisdom tooth removal, oral surgery procedures and more complex treatments.

When is a 3D scan needed?

  • Before implant placement and bone grafting
  • For impacted wisdom teeth close to the nerve
  • For unclear inflammation around the roots and for cysts
  • For more complex orthodontic and restorative treatment plans

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions

Is a CBCT scan dangerous?

CBCT uses X-ray radiation, so it is only carried out when it is diagnostically justified. The dentist decides when a 3D scan is needed and when a panoramic X-ray is sufficient.

How long does the scan take?

The scan itself is brief; including preparation, the whole process takes a few minutes.

What is the difference between a panoramic X-ray and CBCT?

A panoramic X-ray is a 2D overview of the whole mouth. CBCT is a 3D scan that shows the bone and structures in three dimensions – essential for precise planning of implants and surgery.

Can I come just for a scan?

Yes – even if you are not being treated by us, on your own initiative or with a referral from another dentist. Get in touch and we'll arrange an appointment.
