What does digital dentistry mean?

In the conventional approach, an impression is taken with putty, sent to an external laboratory, and the restoration comes back after several days or weeks. In a digital workflow, nothing is lost along the way: the 3D scan and digital impression are merged in software, the restoration is designed on screen and made on machines that work directly from that data.

At Saradent this workflow is complete, because we have our own dental laboratory – diagnostics, treatment rooms and fabrication are all in the same building.

The digital workflow

  1. 01

    3D diagnostics

CBCT and panoramic X-rays in the clinic.

  2. 02

    Digital impression

Scanning your teeth instead of using conventional impression putty – quicker and more comfortable.

  3. 03

    Digital planning

Implants and restorations are planned on a 3D model, which we can show you on screen.

  4. 04

    CAD design

The dental technician designs crowns, bridges or surgical guides in software.

  5. 05

    CAM fabrication

Milling of zirconia and other materials, 3D printing, sintering and ceramic firing – in our laboratory.

  6. 06

    Try-in and fitting

The restoration is tried in and fixed in the treatment room; adjustments are made on the spot.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions

Is a digital impression more comfortable than a conventional one?

For most patients, yes – there is no impression putty in your mouth, and the scan can easily be repeated if needed.

Does digital fabrication mean fewer visits?

Often, yes. Because the treatment rooms and the laboratory are in the same place, many restorations are completed in fewer visits, and some in a single day.

Can I see my treatment plan in advance?

Yes – we show and explain the 3D scan and the digital plan on screen before treatment begins.
